Nokia vs The Smartphone World in the 2011 ?

The smartphone market's growth is impressive in the last year 2010. Smartphone usage around the world is set to explode. As customers crave more sophisticated devices that help enhance their lives, these technological marvels offer the ideal solution. Here are the top smartphone vendors that I got from many sources.

Top Smartphone Vendors  2011

Nokia

Nokia Smartphones firmly maintained its position as the leading smartphone vendor worldwide during 1Q10. In addition,  many new models such as the C3, C6, and the E5. Nokia announced its first Symbian^3 model, the N8. The other Symbian^3 device  are expected to release in the fourth quarter of this year. Check about the MeeGo Intel Nokia OS. However, Nokia gives users what they want; it’s like competitors in the smartphone market.

Research In Motion / Blackberry

Kept its position as the number 2 smartphone vendor worldwide on continued growth of its popular BlackBerry devices. Traditionally a tool for business users, Blackberry’s parent company Research in Motion (RIM) has done much in recent years to extend its appeal to consumers too. Key to its success were its BlackBerry Curve 8520 and BlackBerry Bold 9700, as well as stronger users adoption. Handsets such as the Bold 9700, Storm, Storm2, have excited consumers and the latest blackberry OS and updated app catalogue are adding to the momentum.  Co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie recently unveiled the company's new BlackBerry OS 6.0, which promises a smoother and more interactive user interface. In the first quarter of 2010, RIM gained a spot in the top five of the vendor rankings, shipping 10.6 million units, according to figures from IDC research.

Apple iPhone

No smartphone comparison would be complete without mentioning the Apple iPhone. CEO Steve Jobs released the latest OS update, it has features such us enabling multi-tasking, folders, enhanced email, iBooks for consumers, and iAd. Since the first generation was announced, it has taken markets around the world by storm. A fourth generation iPhone is expected to arrive this summer. Version 4 provides true multitasking and folder management, among the key features and continues to win over users.

Windows Mobile

Rebranded as windows phone 7 with latest incarnation, what used to be windows mobile has undergone a makeover in both its name and its features set. A mobile OS that has traditionally divided user opinion, tweaks under the hood and proposed changes to supporting hardware specifications could mean that the next generation of windows devices gets more friends than ever. IDC is predicting big things for mobile windows Mobile in the future. A total of 18.13 million units running the OS were shipped in 2009, with 51.7 million expected to be shipped in 2013, representing a growth of 183 per cent.

Android

HTC was the platform’s first staunch supporter, but the software soon gained other hardware fans in the form of LG and Motorola. Even google itself decided to enter the market with its Nexus One handset. In terms of the software, at the time of publication, all eyes were on the froyo 2.2 update, which boasts speed, performance and memory improvements, among the feature enhancements. The next installments are Gingerbread, due in late 2010 and Honeycomb in 2011.

So, how about competition between nokia versus the other smartphones in this year, 2011 ?? So let’s wait together.

There is a great deal of excitement around the MeeGo platform, which brings together the best the best two worlds: Moblin and Maemo. MeeGo aims to build the technical foundations of what will shape how we use and consume next-generation devices and services. Its widely expected to make its debut in 2011, and will undoubtedly build on the excitement generated by the Nokia N8.

However, MeeGo’s potential does not just start and end with mobile phones. There is a wealth of other devices out there- A lot of which have not even been imagined yet- that could find themselves a great bedfellow for this platform. That’s whats so exciting about Meego, and why there’s so much developer and industry energy supporting it and willing it to succeed.

Nokia Symbian^3 Operating System- Main Applications and Features

The new Symbian^3 or named Symbian 3 OS upgrade is coming out excellent  features-wise.  So Let me share the big improvements that’s coming with this Symbian^3 release. I hope it can make  a great source discussion until waiting the upcoming release of Symbian^4 in 2011. This is the symbian we have all been waiting for.

Showcased perfectly on the stunning handsetthat is the Nokia N8, Symbian^3 marks the second open version of the symbian platform. It builds on the solid foundation created by an earlier Symbian version.
Data performance lies at the heart od Symbian^3, as does HDMI support for exquisite TV playback  (N8 and E7 only)- an essential feature in an increasingly HD-focused world. Completed in September 2010, Symbian^3 promise to deliver us an unparalleled experience. Whenever you have loved Symbian up until now, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

More than 250 new features are on offer, including:
  1. The ability to personalize multiple home screens. The widget manager creates discovery and download of new widgets simple and support for multiple instances of a native widget means that userrs can monitor multiple weather forecasts, news feeds, social networking accounts or multiple email accounts simultaneously through a common interface. There are six slots on each screen, so you can have up to 18 widgets on the phone running simultaneously.  Overall, the homescreens are an improvement over the S60 version.
  2. Connection to up to 10 email accounts.
  3. Ease of navigation, with multiple touch functionality, allowing you to swipe, scroll, pinch, zoom, and tap to open, the apps, that matter you.
  4. HDMI to enable you to showcase your snaps and videos on the big screen. HDMI support enables users to plug their phone into a TV and watch a high-definition movie at 1080p quality without a Blu-ray player.
  5. Enhanced multitasking facilities thanks to better memory management. More efficient memory management due to Writeable Data Paging allows more applications to run in parallel for a faster.
  6. Intelligent network management that puts the performance where you need it most.
  7. Ability to run across-platform apps based on the Qt development environment.
  8. Updated design of the music player.
  9. Better use of RAM – see above. Again this is a mere correction of mistakes.
I am most excited about Symbian 3’s 4G-readiness.  I think a lot of effort has been put in the Symbian^3 to optimize the code and its work speed.  You can compared to the fifth edition of Symbian the S60 platform, everything appears several times faster, which is a great advantage. In addition,  I am always waiting Symbian^4 in this year.

The S60 Platform (formerly Series 60 User Interface) is a software platform for mobile phones that runs on Symbian OS. The most distinguishing feature of S60 phones was that they admitted users to install new applications after purchase.

There is no doubting the popularity of S60 on Symbian. With a myriad of features that suit business and consumers users alike. In addition, the ability to multitask and add new apps to mobile devices, there’s certainly a lot to like. As a mobile platform evolve, new features are added and less desirable ones either fine-tuned or binned. Symbian is no exception. As a constantly advancing platform, it offers users the features they need here and now, not a wealth of features they can use merely in the future when all their friends have the sama mobile phone.

We know that we amazed the nokia story a few years ago. Off course, Nokia make a great evolution. Recent advencements in Symbian S60 are surely noteworthy. In third edition, sported by Nokia N95 and N96 devices for feature packs one and two respectively, they included the ability to upgrade firmware over the air (FOTA), a fresh open-source browser and the introduction of web widgets.

In the fifth edition of S60 Symbian, found on devices such us the Nokia c6-00 and Nokia N97, there is even more on provide. Advanced multimedia and web experiences based on touch and sensor-focused technology, imaging and video enhancements and beefed-up displays and memory management are just someof the items on a long list of desirable features.

In facts, there are many features that millions of mobile devices, and their users, are adventaging from. Symbian S60 is so popular that it’s in the elite list of the most used smartphone platforms in the world. That’s no mean feat.

For your information, there are 4 editions of Symbain S60 in the range: the original release, the 2nd edition, third edition, and the final edition (the fifth).  The last edition of Symbian S60 5th comes with touch sensor toolkit was released a few month ago  along with the Nokia 5800, better known as the Tube. Although the fifth edition might well be the last, things are ending on a high. The future is surely looking bright for S60 on Symbian, since it became part of Symbian Foundation in 2009.

Today, with backing of host of mobile industry, heavyweight  that make up the foundation, S60 on Symbian boasts more support than ever before. In the line with Nokia’s ethos to enhance the user experience, S60 on Symbian puts everything you desire at your fingertips. Imagine a mobile designed just for you.
